"Unique" Thrifting

Don't be fooled by the title. I mean, we did find some unique stuff. Unique was actually the name of thrift shop that we went to in Fairfax.

What's so unique at Unique? (I'll stop)

A GLORIOUS MUSIC SELECTION THAT SPOKE TO US:

Labels that define who we are.

Heart Moon Star sounds super cute. The Dana blazer just screamed SCULLAAAAAY!!! (Check out this vid of Mulder calling for Scully)

It's incredibly hard to resist buying a furry pink shawl tbh.

Our next stop was at a Goodwill.

There was a good amount of creepy inanimate objects staring at us.

A newfound need for waffles shaped like animals.

Baby Instruments, which would be a GREAT band name (you're welcome)

THE BEST WORST SHOES THAT WE WOULD TOTALLY WEAR EVERYWHERE.

Cameras that made us feel like we were in American Beauty.

Wait, this is kind of weird...

Next, we checked out an Asian market. Jocelyn bought the candy on the right, which was in this movie.

Fun day. Will post purchases later!

"This is the funnest night ever!"

Hey guys

WE DECIDED TO MAKE OUR BEDS BUNK BEDS!!!!!!

Here are some pictures from our adventure.

Needed to document this moment.

TOTALLY SMASHED THE SHAMPOO

It pretty much pulled all of Jocelyn's arm hair out.

Metal.

Losing it.

SO PROUD OF US.

Getting close.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do not want to be crushed.

Obsessing Over: Fashion Films

Hey Guys! Let me obsess for a sec...

"there have been some awesome lil short films from so many different fashion labels recently i am obsessed and overwhelmed bye"

I mean, it's hard to express how obsessed I am with these videos (and a few older ones that are new to me) over Twitter in 140 characters or less. So I decided to finally post another entry on the cat calls blog about how great these short films are (so you can see for yourselves!)

Fair warning, while these are ART pieces, some might be NSFW!

Another warning, I kind of went crazy with links/name dropping BUT I CAN'T CHANGE WHO I AM.

(Flashing Lights Warning!)

This is A-Z of Wink from i-D. It's very visually captivating and reminds me of All Of the Lights or Enter the Void's title sequence. Anyways, it's fantastic and deserves a few watches, and re-watches, and re-re-watches, etc.

Pussy Power is a Petra Collins piece for Purple TV. Jocelyn told me about this, so I read about it on Slutever. We both watched at the same time while on our bunk beds that we put together 2 weeks ago (late post- will update!) Um, I was already won over by the fact that Petra made this, but after watching I just felt feel so empowered. Plus, the girls look great in the their American Apparel. We all know who's gonna run the world.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I AM SO IN LOVE WITH WES ANDERSON X PRADA COLLAB. I NEVER WANT IT TO END. EVER. While my absolute favorite is the Prada Candy series with Lea Seydoux, I'm still convinced that my heart belongs to Jason Schwartzman. I mean, remember Coconut Records' Opening Ceremony x Gia Coppola (here's a quick plug for Palo Alto) with Kirsten Dunst and how amazing it is?!!!?!!? It's like, my #1 inspiration (well like top 10):

PS Opening Ceremony, I am still lusting over Chloe Sevigny's gingham backpack in black. Please get more in stock, and maybe make it affordable for a college girl's budget.

Real quick: Another Coconut Records song/vid (Directed by Mark Gonzales!) featuring Chloe Sevigny. Okay, how do I become involved in this fantastic circle of creative/glamorous people. If you know, please contact me. Please.

Here is the Prada Candy series:

Episode 1

Episode 2

Episode 3

Unfortunately, I'm too in love with Marc Jacobs fragrances. One day I WILL try Prada, because Voltaire #6 doesn't actually exist.

PS Wes Anderson, please keep casting Lea Seydoux in your films!!!

This series is just awesome. After reading about it on Nylon, I checked it out. It's from Miu Miu, and it's currently on their homepage! The description from the video is as follows:
"Spark and Light is directed by So Yong Kim. It's the seventh commission from Miu Miu Women's Tales, the acclaimed short-film series by women who critically celebrate femininity in the 21st century."
I encourage you to watch the series! It's so worth it, PROMISE!

This is probably enough for one post... but I will most definitely have another one where I obsess over fashion x film collabs. It's like total eye candy.

XOXO

Dorm Desk Decor

Hey guys!

I have been messing with decorating my desk a lot lately- mostly because it gets cluttered and unorganized almost every day. I really think my desk is more of a place for me to display my favorite things.
Jocelyn drew this for me for Christmas. It's probably my favorite thing ever. She also made that bracelet for me with my favorite colors. The necklace was an amazing find from H&M. It was on sale for $3! It was originally going to be used for my Halloween costume (Beetlejuice) but I ended up skipping the dress up and just making cookies and getting food with Jocelyn.

When I was bored between classes last week, I made this border with some sticky notes and ribbon that I had laying around. I plan to re-do it the correct way with better colors later on, but for now it stays. I made this via this DIY found on Rookie Mag. Check it out!

I suppose I could put up actual to-do notes on this board, but I'd like to cite John Waters as inspiration for this collection of random things:

This Steve Zissou card from Etsy that I got for my 18th birthday.

A David Lynch coaster from one of my high school teachers.

A valentine with Special Agent Dale Cooper.

A playbill from when I saw The Addams Family on broadway.

A fish taco sticker- from back at home in VB.

A Beach House sticker from AFK Books.

A postcard for this awesome shop in D.C. that I visited with my sister last week.

Also, cat ears from Claire's (which come in handy for themed parties/events at school).
It's obvious that I am obsessed with Twin Peaks.

I probably brought too many books/cds with me to school, but having them with me made me feel like I was at home. Franny and Zooey is my absolute favorite. Also, I scored that Radiohead album on campus from a traveling vendor.

Bananas are my favorite food- and anything banana flavored or made with bananas comes second. I usually pick up a few throughout the week with extra meal swipes, so it's not unusual for there to be bananas on my desk. The cat mug was a recent purchase from Goodwill. Jocelyn and I picked up three- one for each of us and one for our other roommate Madison. I can't wait to drink lots of hot chocolate and dandelion tea in there (and also probably use it to hold my ramen when I'm too lazy to wash a bowl).
So that's my desk. I had to semi-organize it for this photo shoot, which got me into organizing mode for the rest of my dorm. Also, I really want some ramen.

See you later!

Wild Horses

Hey guys!

Jocelyn and I had a busy day today. We went thrifting with some friends and found really awesome stuff. We also visited an Asian market- which was appropriate since it is the Chinese New Year! It's the year of the horse, meaning we must all find our inner Tina Belcher.

Anyways- we took lots of great pics of all of the wonderful, useless, and bizarre items that we found. We're going to put them up later this weekend, but for now it's time for a Bob's Burgers Netflix binge bed.
